Dear Sir
I would like to reply to John Snowball’s letter ‘The only sensible way forward’, Newton News 27.9.19.
While I am no ‘political animal’, I would like to draw attention to Mr. Snowball’s use of language during a (bamboozling) attack on the climate activist Greta Thunberg.
As a parent of a child with profound autism, his use of the word ‘autistic’ in this piece was frankly unacceptable.
I would be horrified if my wonderful son was to be described as ‘autistic’ in the same sentence as ‘angry’, ‘refuses’, ‘snarling’, ‘menacing’, ‘blames’ and ‘threats’.
I am sure Mr. Snowball would like to apologise when he looks back at the content of his letter and I am certain he will understand the upset this kind of interpretation could cause.
I would guess these kind of assumptions come from a place of ignorance rather than malice and I invite Mr. Snowball to accept this error and set the record straight.
