CCTV images have been released of a man police would like to speak to in relation to an attempted robbery and suspected assault in Newton Aycliffe.
The incident happened at 4.35pm on Sunday October, 30 in the Caygill General Store on Green Lea Garth, Newton Aycliffe. A member of staff was assaulted and demands were made for the till to be opened. The attacker departed the shop empty handed when challenged by shop staff.
DC Mick Rutherford, said: The shop assistant was left badly shaken by this incident, as was a customer who was in the shop at the time. I am keen to identify the man in the CCTV images and speak to him in relation to this. Anyone who recognises this man should call us as soon as possible.”
The suspect is described as, 25-35 years old, medium build, 5’8 to 5’11, wearing a dark coloured hooded top with a Jack Daniels motif on the chest, grey trousers and dark coloured trainers.
