Dear Sir,
I was not surprised to learn that the council, after decades of “trying” to solve the problem of dangerous and illegal parking, have come up with an earth shattering brainwave. They are going to form a committee? It will include school teachers. Which is a bad idea.
Their time should be devoted to school standards, not discussing ways to alienate their pupil’s parents.
I am a resident affected by Sugar Hill School traffic but, they’re all the same. They are all businesses. Their functions significantly increase the volume of traffic. They should provide public parking. Car parking is the establishment’s “Elephant in the room”. They have attracted people to the schools then blame them for coming? They threaten to prosecute the school mums and revoke the licenses of taxis. Do they think the children should be dropped off elsewhere? This is bullying!
The council think by creating no-go zones at schools and spreading the problems further afield is a satisfactory solution. The council should be thoroughly ashamed of their policy. Someday even they will realise that the solution to no parking places, is to provide parking places.
They are unconcerned at the adjacent St Cuthbert’s way where dangerous and illegal speeding 50 mph is the norm.
Yours, bemused
K. Farrell
