Town Council West Ward By Election
Labour is fielding one of it’s best candidates for the By Election in West Ward to be held on Thursday 23rd July.
Martin Ashcroft was born and bred in Newton Aycliffe, He is aged 41, a hard working family man and father of 5 children. Martin lives in the West Ward and regularly attends Council Meetings as a member of the public. He is a time served Motor Vehicle Technician with 25 year’s experience and self-employed since 1996.
Martin also has Taxis in Darlington placed in a firm called 1.A.B Taxis. He is an elected member of the Management Committee of the Friends of West Park group and regularly attends meetings.
He is a very active member who goes out litter picking in and around West Park Boating Lakes every Sunday with other volunteers. Martin helped clean the Lakes out last year and was active in the ‘Save our Fireworks Group’ which successfully persuaded the Town Council to bring the display back.
If elected Martin will be a regular attender and fully contribute to Council Meetings. Martin is a moderate and progressive candidate, young and has integrity and ability.
Cllr Bob Fleming Labour Leader on Great Aycliffe Town Council said “ Martin will make a fine addition to our team and work hard for the residents of WestWard.”
