Students at King James I Academy have been working with local businesses to enhance their learning. The Business Studies Department at the Academy works hard to make sure that students have a realistic insight into the complexities of business; this means enlisting the help of local organisations and entrepreneurs.
A number of businesses have supported the school by completing questionnaires or visiting as practitioners for Q&A sessions. In the past year, students have worked with the Barber Bar, pictured here, which recently opened its second shop on South Church Road, Honey Bee, Cre8ive Graphics and Venture Properties. Sixth Form students have also enjoyed work experience in a wide range of roles with Arlington Automotive, Certax Accounting and Hunters Estate Agency.
The Academy are now looking to increase their database of businesses and freelancers that would be willing to help shape the future of young people in their community. Students benefit from investigating real businesses and conducting interviews either in person, via email or via video link, and work placements of any length are hugely beneficial. Any local organisation that would like to get involved can contact the Academy on 01388 603388.
