Staff and students at King James I Academy have raised £367 for Macmillan Cancer Support at the school’s annual Coffee Morning event, which was organised by members of the Sixth Form Team.
Each year, Sixth Form Mentor, Linda Dixon, and Careers Adviser, Anne Goddard, run the event with donations from staff and students. This year, they received an additional generous donation of cakes and pastries from Kelly Louise Rutherford, who works for the non-profit organisation, ‘Little Chefs, Big Chefs’ at St Helen Auckland.
This event is just one of the many fundraising activities which take place at the school throughout the academic year to benefit a variety of worthy causes, both local and national. Already, since September, donations have been made to The Lily Foundation and the Cavernoma Society, and a group of Sixth Form students are currently fundraising to raise money for the Angel Trust Christmas Toy Appeal. The school will also be hosting its annual Festive Fair on December 3rd to give local crafters an outlet for their goods, and to help raise money for local charities.
