Newton Aycliffe FC are offering kids the chance to watch Northern League football for FREE this coming season. The Royal Blues, preparing for their third consecutive campaign in the first division of the second oldest league in world football, will allow under 12s free entry to all their home matches during the 2013/14 campaign.
With games against the last three FA Vase winners Spennymoor, Dunston and Whitley Bay, local derbies against Shildon, Bishop Auckland, West Auckland and Crook – not to mention FA Vase and FA Cup runs – it promises to be an enthralling campaign at Moore Lane Park.
General manager Dan Lewis said: “We understand it can be expensive for parents taking youngsters to watch football, so we are hoping this initiative will persuade more youngsters to attend matches at Moore Lane Park.
“It is important for us to create a new generation of supporters that will hopefully witness a period of success at the club.”
The Newtonians’ pre-season campaign gets underway with a trip to Barnsley on Saturday July 13th to face Athersley Recreation, with kick-off at 2pm, before recently-promoted Darlington arrive at Moore Lane Park on Wednesday July 17th for the first home game of the season.
Then the club host Northallerton on Saturday July 20th, when the club are undertaking a sponsored walk in memory of club legend Frank Swinburne. Frankie travelled from Moore Lane Park to Northallerton alongside Peter Allison in 2010 and the club will honour his memory by completing the route in reverse, setting off from Northallerton to walk to the game which takes place at Aycliffe.
Supporters can walk all or part of the 26-mile route, or even cycle or jog it, ahead of the 3pm kick off. Anyone interested in partaking can contact aycliffefc@hotmail.co.uk for their information pack.
The pre-season calendar is rounded off with away games at Coxhoe, Tow Law and Darlington Cleveland Bridge before a return game against Athersley at Moore Lane Park on Saturday August 3rd and a visit from Darlington RA on Tuesday August 6th.
Aycliffe’s league campaign begins with an away trip to Penrith on Saturday August 10th and the club’s first home league game is against Billingham Synthonia on Wednesday August 14th.
