Aycliffe Juniors welcomed November with a string of fixtures on Sunday morning. There were some great performances from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s.
Under 7’s were in cup action against Darlington RA Spitfires. They stormed in to the last eight of the cup with a 5-0 win, playing extremely well with great passing and movement. The goals were shared between Isaac and Harry. The second game saw the Aycliffe side go one goal behind before Harrison got a hat trick in a 3-1 win.
Under 8’s hosted Grangetown Boys Club in the cup and it was an exciting match. It was an end to end first half with both keepers making some great saves. The visitors scored two quick goals at the end of the half. Aycliffe could not beat the excellent Grangetown keeper despite enjoying possession at the start of the second half and the visitors took their chances and won the game 6-0. In the second game it was much closer and Niall Armstrong’s goal earnt a 1-1 draw. Emrehan was excellent in the Aycliffe defence and men of the match were Harvey and Will.
The Under 10 Russell Foster league team have a break before their winter league starts on 13th November. The TJFA team suffered their first set back of the season losing 1-0 away at Seaton Carew based Golden Flatts. They started slowly and conceded a goal in the first half which they could not recover from. Their best play was towards the end of the game but it was all to no avail on this occasion. In the second match six goals were shared between Lucas, Aaron, Zack (2) and Tom (2) in a 6-3 win.
Under 12’s were away at Redcar Athletic and attacked from the start with some good passing football. Jermaine was on hand to start the scoring after a goalkeeping error and Aycliffe were 1-0 up. The game was then end to end but after a penalty miss Dylan H got the second and Zack the third for a 3-0 half time lead. The good passing game continued and some resolute defending from the home team was eventually broken down as James scored before Zack’s second and Aycliffe’s fifth sealed the win despite conceding at the end of the game. Final score was 5-1 to Aycliffe with Jermaine man of the match for his hard work and determination throughout.
Under 18’s Red (pictured) faced a difficult test against Division 1 side Stockton Town in the Challenge cup and put up a great battle eventually losing 2-1. Lochie Scott scored and Ryan Wise was man of the match. The Under 18’s Black had a disappointing day losing 4-3 at home against Spraire Lads again in the challenge cup.
