Spectrum (North East) Roller Skating Club took part in “Pass on your Passion” Sunday on 4th June 2017. The nationwide campaign is designed to help women get into coaching sport. Currently in the UK only 30% of sports coaches are women. Spectrum Roller Skating Club decided to get involved with the campaign as it reflected what the club is all about. “As a coach, it is my job to inspire others to get involved and pass on their knowledge, cultivating and promoting – artistic roller skating. Coach Tracy Stevens said “I felt it was important to nominate my helpers Karen Austin, Jo Loring, Andrea Vasey, Nicola Stevens and Leah Toms as they are such a fantastic support. I want them to be recognised for helping others and also empower them to develop their skills further.” County Durham Sport came along to our club session today and brought a 5ft inflatable baton.
Thanks to Outlaw Productions for their support with video footage – This will be available on social media soon. During the week of 12th-18th June Sports Clubs all over County Durham will be encouraged to pass on the baton. A great opportunity to get active and get involved in sport. Spectrum Roller Skating Club now skate at Shildon 2.30-3.30pm both Saturdays and Sundays, £4 per hour. You can see footage of the campaign and keep up to date with Spectrum Roller Skating Club on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
