12 year old Jessica Butterworth a Year 8 student at Woodham Academy, recently wrote a poem as part of her English lesson. Her teacher thought it so good he chose to read it out to the class who all thought it was amazing.
A Christmas Truce
It was Christmas Eve in the dreaded trench,
Everyone was all but drenched,
Bones were flying making a mess,
Soldiers were lying, wishing they were dead.
Alas, all of a sudden the air was still,
Not a mouse or finger moved,
As a brave young Englishman stood alone,
ready to call a truce.
