The Chairman of Durham County Council, Linda Marshall hosted a Japanese culture event at County Hall.  Councillors, council staff and members of the public learnt about Japanese etiquette, the formalities of a tea ceremony, parcel wrapping and the traditional Japanese art of paper folding.

The event was organised by Cllr Linda Marshall to show support to our Japanese business investors Hitachi in Newton Aycliffe and follows on from the Japanese Tsunami disaster fund set up by former Chairman Cllr Mac Williams. Representatives from Japan Crafts Uk were also on hand.

Cllr Marshall was joined by Syoko Smith, Megumi Murakami and Akie Usuzaka of the North east Japanese Womens Assosciation  and Anjali bhattacharjee from Japan Crafts Uk.
