Richard Heaven will be joining Woodham Academy in September to help younger students to become more confident readers. Mr. Heaven has many years of experience of teaching reading in primary schools and will use this expertise to develop students’ reading skills.
This is part of a wider reading programme at Woodham Academy which recognises the importance of reading in order to learn, whatever the subject. In September, the school will open a new reading area. This will be used for the well-established Accelerated Reading programme in Year 7 and for strengthening phonics. It will also be used for lunchtime reading clubs.
