The Annual General Meeting of Newton Aycliffe Town Council took place on Wednesday 15th May. I would like to congratulate last year’s Deputy Mayor, John Clarke, on becoming Mayor for this year.
Also, a big thank you to the councillors who voted for me as this year’s Deputy Mayor.
What a start to the new year in the council chamber, with the Mayor being unavailable it has meant I’ve been able to attend some amazing events in the first weekend.
It started with the food festival in the town centre, it was great seeing our town bustling with people enjoying the food, drink and entertainment – this is exactly what our residents need and deserve.
On Saturday morning I had the privilege of opening Aycliffe’s ‘CliffeCon’ at the OakLeaf Sports Complex, it was amazing, highly recommended and, I was a bit starstruck!
Monday night I attended the Shine Choir group to watch them rehearse for their summer concert, I awarded ‘Star of the Week’, and enjoyed a little dance with the children.
I am really looking forward to the opportunity to represent the town I love as Deputy Mayor and I hope to make you proud.
