Newton Aycliffe Residents Association ACORN enjoyed a fabulous animal fun day on Friday 24th July.
Local residents and others gathered on Christopher Walk to enjoy a day of entertainment involving Farmyard animals, Pony riding, Hook a duck, Inflatable slide, Bouncy castle and Fairground rides.
Professor Nincompoop provided entertainment, magic, Balloons and dancing. The man I call the Pied Piper of mirth had children in fits of the giggles, running around burning off excess energy and generally creating mayhem.
Meanwhile our friend Harry Potty was creating masterpieces of art on the faces of young children. Queues of people were evident from poor Harry sitting down till he finally finished half an hour after everyone else.
This event was the fourth annual event which has been held and continues to be a great success not only for local residents but those people who come to entertain us.
Volunteers young and adult put a lot of time and effort into organising the events for which ACORN are acclaimed and are a real credit to our community.
This year we were particularly encouraged by the contributions to our Tombola, profits of which are to be shared with a cancer charity.
ACORN will be holding a further outdoor event on the 24th August which will include a Teddy Bears Picnic.
I would like to thank all involved for making this a superb event.
