Dear Sir,
With regards to recent letters published in Newton News regarding the parking of vehicles at Simpasture and Travellers Green.
I have recently been observing this problem, and it is a problem all over Newton Aycliffe, which is getting worse and nobody in any capacity of authority appears to bother themselves to do anything about it.
Vehicles are illegally parked all over the town day and night, ie: causing unnecessary obstruction by day and contravening lighting regulations by night, not to mention causing damage to grass verges at the side of the road, as a vehicle owner has taken it upon himself to do on a regular basis on Stephenson Way, opposite St. Joseph’s School.
Surely some local authority workers must see this?
Why not report it to the appropriate department?
I have seen for myself vehicles parked in an obstructive manner and both Police Officers and PCSO’s just sail past with no attempt of doing anything about the situation.
Vehicles are parked on a regular basis in Hareson Road opposite each other leaving just enough room for a car to get through, what about emergency vehicles? No consideration is given with regards Ambulance or Fire Fighting vehicles, both of which are quite large vehicles, getting along the street in the event of an emergency, I find this irresponsible and inconsiderate and could cause danger to life.
I appreciate parking is very difficult if a person does not have a drive, but having said that, some people who have a drive still park on the road and/or path? It only takes a little bit of thought, and at the end of the day your car is your responsibility.
