The Husqvarna Group is the world’s largest producer of lawnmowers, chainsaws and tractors and incorporates the brands, Husqvarna, Flymo, McCulloch and Gardena.
The company’s modern manufacturing facility is based at Newton Aycliffe and manufacture product types including the Automower, which is new generation robotic lawnmower.
The company has a core permanent workforce of approximately 300 employees and recruits approximately 600 temporary employees during its peak production period of January until May.
Husqvarna is doing its bit for charity and has adopted St Teresa’s Hospice as its charity for 2016. Picture shows (left) Linda Purdie, HR Manager receiving the adoption certificate from Alison Marshall of St Teresa’s Hospice.
St Teresa’s Hospice is based in Darlington and is very close to the hearts of colleagues at Husqvarna UK as over the last 2 years sadly two colleagues had been admitted to the hospice before passing away.
Husqvarna have carried out various events including a cake bake day in September, 2015, where employees made and sold cakes and pastries to raise money for the hospice. All employees very much enjoyed the day and it raised a total of £1200 for the hospice!

Employees within the company also submitted money they had donated from their Tea Fund which raised a total of £360 and more recently, employees took part in December, 2015, by participating in a Christmas Jumper Day. Everyone got in the Christmas spirit and a total of £335 was raised for the Hospice.
So far, Husqvarna UK has raised a total of £1895 for St Teresa’s Hospice. This is a fantastic effort from all employees at Husqvarna who will be holding lots more events to raise money for the St Teresa’s Hospice.
