The Eden Arms have raised cash for a local lad with an incurable disease. The Challenge was an 85 mile circular walk of The Peak District National Park in Derbyshire. This was completed carrying all food and kit and using maps to navigate as no roads could be used and the walkers needed to be completely self-sustaining.
The route started in Hope and went north to Hathersage and Baslow then back down to Tideswell to complete where they started. The expedition took 5 days the Manager Maurice Simpson, his brother Charlie and close friends Mark Ward and Jason Craig. The kit was carried between them in a team effort and they camped in the open each night.
In all £175 was raised through cash sponsorships and on the Just Giving website.
“As a major employer in the area it was a good opportunity to raise awareness of Kyran’s condition, Juvenile Batten Disease, which is a rare genetic neurodegenerative illness” said Maurice.
