After a hugely successful charity trek in September 2011 in which 16 local fundraisers raised a spectacular £24,000, the Butterwick Hospice in Bishop Auckland have organized another bespoke trek for October 2013.
Participants will trek through beautiful and awe-inspiring scenery of the Indian Himalayas, as well as spending two days working on a local community project in a Delhi village.
Registration is £300 and trekkers are asked to raise £2,500 which includes flights, accommodation, food and sponsorship towards the charity.
Julie Nisbet, fundraiser at Butterwick Hospice said “Our Peru trek at the end of 2011 was exhilarating. As well as being a challenging activity, we had the satisfaction of working in a remote village, building the foundations of a new school. We hope the Indian Himalaya trek will be just as popular, especially as we are limiting places to 16 trekkers – and as well as raising money for the Hospice, hope to do some good work in the Delhi village.”
Full fundraising support is given by the fundraising team and regular meetings are held to support those participating. An information evening will be held at Butterwick Hospice on Woodhouse Lane, Bishop Auckland on Monday 17th September at 6pm. If you are interested in attending please contact Lynn on 01388 603003.
