Last Wednesday Horndale Residents’ Association travelled to Preston Park via  Stockton Riverdside. We started the day boarding 2 vintage buses supplied by the Aycliffe and District Bus Preservation Society the first bus was the Adensfield as seen on TV show Heartbeat and the 2nd was the Newtonian known to many for being our town bus for many years.
We boarded the Tees Princess Sail Boat at Stockton and travelled to Preston Park where some people disembarked while others stayed on and continued to Yarm and then back to Preston Park. Everyone enjoyed a tea/coffee and a cake or scone on the boat.
The children loved seeing river wild life and playing in the parks and exploring Preston Hall and I think the old fashioned sweet shop was popular particular with the adults.
This event cost £3 and £8 depending how long you stayed on the boat. This excellent price was made possible with funding by the Big Lottery and GAMP your local Area Action Partnership true evidence of partners working together to create a better community.
The Bus Preservation Society does a fantastic job maintaining and rebuilding these old buses for the future. If anyone is interested in the society visit
