Honest John Strikes Again!
ROCSOLID, the supported housing charity based in Newton Aycliffe, was delighted to receive £1,000 from Honest John who supports local good causes.
“We were over the moon,” said service manager Mandy Shaw. “We support literally dozens of people in the town – some are care leavers, others young families and some have learning difficulties. This cash donation was very gratefully received!”
Since ROCSOLID was founded in 2007, it has supported 315 clients and has very positive feedback from other professionals, including social workers.
It was started by Dot and Derek Butler, who own Reach Out Care Fostering Services which is based at Hope House in Burnhope, Newton Aycliffe. The couple wanted young people leaving care to have one-on-one support to help them move successfully to independent living and it has since expanded its remit.
Honest John has been raising cash for community projects since 2007 and has a shop in DISC next to the Blue Bridge in town.
Honest John Donates £1500
Honest John’s Community Kitty has made donations of £600 to the Wishing Well Club; £600 to Newton Aycliffe Pathways Group; and £300 to The Children’s Jam Club.
John thanks DISC, Val, doors and all customers – also Barry for his kindness.
