Honest John is extremely happy running his stall in “The Cubby” and thanks Newton Press and Newton News for all their help in getting him settled in, including applying for Charity status from the UK Charity Commissioners on his behalf.
Paul Howarth, Director of Newton Press, is shown here presenting John with his charity certificate, Honest John’s Charity is called “John’s Aycliffe Community Kitty (JACK)” and Newton Press have also designed a website for John at
www.jack4.co.uk
John says he is delighted with the support he gets from the community and moving to the Cubby was the best outcome for him as he would have been worrying about finding the rent each week for a town centre shop and it would have reduced the amount of money he could donate to town organisations and charities.
“Newton Press have saved my life and given me a new purpose in life, I am so happy now, with no worries about storage, getting up at 5am on market day, or any other matters. I can just concentrate on selling and receiving goods from the generous people of Newton Aycliffe.” said John.
“As Aycliffe’s Community Newspaper Newton News have been keen to support John in his charity work because we see him as a community champion. Giving all his time and energy to help others is highly commendable and John is an inspiration to many” said Paul Howarth.
