Heighington Afc Boys U/9’s competed at a football tournament over the Bank Holiday in Cleethorpes with teams from all over the country. The boys made it to the final, narrowly missing out with a 1-0 defeat to Ashurst Amigos from Merseyside. They kicked off the tournament with a 1-0 defeat to the impressive Amigos after a tough battling performance, but soon found their feet  and followed this up with 4 straight victories against strong opposition to finish 2nd in the table and qualify for the final.
The lads went down 1-0 to the Amigos, but we are all immensely proud of their achievement especially as three of the boys had never played for the team before the tournament. With only 7 players available each boy had to play every minute of every game. Their spirit and sportsmanship was first class and we look forward to going away next summer again and to hopefully go one step further.
