On Saturday the 10th June, Heighington AFC held their annual Presentation Day at the Big Club in Newton Aycliffe. Children and Parents from Under 5’s Development, all the way through to the Adult Team, who recently joined the Club, enjoyed a Great Day in the club’s Calendar The season’s Highlights were discussed, and included Heighington’s First ever club Tournament, in July last Year which was a huge success for the club, both on and off the pitch. As well as raising money for the club, all of the Teams had great success with the U9’s, U12’s, U14’s & U16’s all picking up silverware over the weekend. The club now looks forward to the next Club Tournament on Saturday & Sunday 24th & 25th June. There has also been a new development Team added to the club with 5 Coaches looking after almost 20 Children. They will be entering the U7’s TJFA Sunday morning League as of September this Year. The Under 9’s were recently crowned Champions and gained promotion for the second Season in a row which is a huge achievement.
Joe Neild who has been at the club for the last 4 Years and who Captained the Under 9’s for the last three Years recently signed his first contract with Sunderland, so a huge well done to him and his coaches, Heighington also formed a new Under 11’s Team this Season which continues the growth within the club. The Under 12’s last month, Won the Silloth Tournament with a dramatic Penalty Shootout win so a huge well done to all the Parents and coaches for that wonderful achievement. Special mention was also given to the Under 16’s who secured their 3rd successive promotion which once again is an unbelievable Record! The adult Team, which recently merged with the Club after New Chairman David Brassell took over won a League and Cup Double in their first season together and are going from strength to strength. Big Thank you to the adults who came down to support the Children at Presentation Day, it showed both the Kids and Parents their is progression after they have left the Youth Set Up This has been by far the most successful Season to date for Heighington AFC.
With lots of Success on the Pitch and re branding in Terms of the club Badge, as well as significant financial growth off it. Other news is that there are a number of Coaches who are currently undertaking their Level 2 Coaching Badges. This will only benefit all the Children and Teams in the long run Finally, on behalf of everyone at Heighington AFC we would like to say a huge Thank you to Jim Barr, who is stepping down as Chairman after 10 years with the club. He has been instrumental in the clubs Growth with massive success on and off the pitch.
