Heighington AFC RFYL (Saturday)
The Mighty Red and Blacks were back in action last week, playing against Washington Wildcats and, despite the bad weather, they all played excellently.
After lockdown, and losing a player, it was great to welcome back, for his second debut, Cole Raine. He slotted in nicely with the lads and gave a MoM performance. Helping himself to a goal and making the Washington keeper pull off some brilliant saves. With his non stop running he covered every inch of the pitch.
Although our keeper, Harry, didn’t have a lot to do for large sections of the match he made several important saves to keep the score line down. Every single outfield player worked extremely hard with and without the ball. They really pushed to get the win. Playing with our usual passing game they managed to run out 7-3 winners.
Goals scored by Coleby 3, Joshua 2, Oliver C 1, Cole 1.
MoM Cole.
Heighington Blacks (Sunday)
U11s Heighington Blacks 8 – 0 Riverside Juniors
Yet another good performance from the lads. 8-0, all the boys played 45 minutes, all pretty much played in different positions as well. The Blacks started very strong and were 2-0 up after two minutes, this carried on throughout the game, which they dominated.
Full credit to the team as they battled through the cold and wet weather, but good to see them come out on top.
Goals by Alex 5, Dylan, Adam and Jamesy.
Parents MOM: Unanimous decision with nine votes for Stephen Bell. Does the jobs no one else wants to, breaks up the play and keeps the team ticking.
Coaches MOM: This player is really starting to develop within the team since joining us this season. He was confident, tough tackling and strong. Oliver Yale, well done mate.
