Aycliffe and District Bus Preservation Society had their Heartbeat bus stood guard over Vane Tempest’s statue in Durham Market Square last Monday during the 1940’s event.
Members of the Society dressed in costume and mingled with visitors whilst youngsters and parents dodged showers by enjoying a sit on this famous local bus.
Market Manager Colin Wilkes was delighted to have the bus as an attraction which was complimented by period singer Ashley Stirling, a choir group and jitterbug dancers during the day. Society Chairman Kevin Openshaw was also pleased with the day and the response of visitors to Durham but he said they could have brought some warmer weather!
