Woodham Academy’s catering department are committed to providing and promoting a healthy, nutritional, balanced diet to their customers. They have adopted the School Food Standards policy which states that they should provide high quality ingredients with more whole grain items such as whole grain rice and pasta whilst restricting fats and sugars in drinks and cooking methods.
Linda Vipond, the schools catering manager, works continuously to provide an appealing and creative menu for their students in a safe and relaxing environment. Over the years they have introduced more wholegrain items on the menu and not only do they try and keep the old favourites on the menu such as a roast dinner or hunters’ chicken, they also try and introduce some new trends and foods from around the world, such as Chimichangas, Keralan curry and Sri Lankan curry. There are several options available at lunchtime, as well as the main menu they provide a sandwich/salad bar, pasta station, grab and go items, jacket potatoes and a high street market option. The school is very excited with the uptake of school meals this year with more students deciding to have a school lunch.
The school works very closely with local suppliers to secure good value and quality of products to pass onto their customers.
Woodham Academy is very proud to retain their 5-star award from environmental health following a recent inspection this year.
Healthy eating and wellbeing are a key part of preparing students for learning and this plays an important role in promoting healthy habits. Students are encouraged to make healthy choices throughout the school day.
Menus are available to view on the school website and if you have any concerns or special diets to discuss please contact Linda Vipond.
