Dear Sir,
My attitude toward pavement parking is this: Why would you want to park on a footpath, are you too lazy to walk or are you genuinely the type of person who does not give a damn about the elderly and infirm?
Not everyone has good health, or is afraid to step out with certainty, there are quite a few drivers who do not look out for pedestrians, cyclists take up footpaths too, barging their way through with no regard for anyone. I can understand why they use the footpaths as they are also afraid to go onto the roads due to bad driving habits.
It is an offence to dride less than one metre from a cyclist (it should be made 1.5m in my opinion, as it is on continental roads). I have witnessed cars hitting the cyclist with their mirrors on scores of occasions. However, to put this into perspective, what are footpaths for? Simply put, they are for pedestrians, pushchairs and the disabled – not bikes or cars, be more considerate please – you will be old some day!
Also, please do not block private driveways or garage entrances, they have a legal right to remove your vehicle if it is not possible to get in or out of the their property.
