Marian Dawson, a familiar face in Newton Aycliffe since January 1993, has emotionally started her retirement. Marian’s final shift, helping children, their parents and carers to safely cross a very busy road on their journeys to and from Sugar Hill Primary, was caught on television cameras when she appeared on Look North, the week before Christmas. Marian has been overwhelmed with the gifts and kind words she has received from children, parents, carers, staff and governors. Everyone at Sugar Hill will miss her and wish her a long and happy retirement. Marian has battled all weathers in the line of duty and was only eleven days short of thirty one years service to the local community. Marian said, “It doesn’t matter what’s going on around you, you forget it all when you see the children safe. I’m going to miss all the smiling faces.”
Happy Retirement Marian.
