Remedy Mini Festival held at The Hammer & Pincers in Newton Aycliffe, featured a huge line-up of DJs and performers all pulling together to raise money for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice in Middlesbrough.

Event organisers Andy Lee and Lisa Morrison had ran a charity event in 2016 and due to popular demand decided to go “bigger and better” for the 2018 event with a boutique mini festival.

When we spoke to them they said “We couldn’t be happier with how the event went, support from everyone from the DJs, the venue, the sponsors to everyone that shared the event on social media or bought tickets was simply amazing”

The event quickly sold out with 500 revellers in attendance at the one day festival with camping. Music lovers spent the day enjoying both classic house music in the giant tipis with Hacienda legend Allister Whitehead and dancing to more contemporary underground music in the Bedouin tent with DJs such as Josh Butler and Hauswerks playing quality sets alongside twenty other DJs during the full day.

Andy has worked professionally within the music business for many years and was determined to put on a very professional event.

“It was amazing to get sponsorship from two companies I regularly work with, Loopmasters and Plugin Boutique, and also sponsorship from local companies convertmyvan.com and Webahead who gave us the ability to put on a first class event and enable a large part of the ticket money go directly to Zoe’s place charity.

The sound systems, the lighting, the DJs, fire performers , in-fact everyone involved with the event did a first class job and helped the day go off with such a great atmosphere, and all for an amazing cause” said Andy Lee

Lisa commented that “Feedback on the event has been amazing, social media has been awash with brilliant comments and praise for everyone involved. To do something on this kind of scale was a challenge, but we are fortunate enough to have amazing friends around us that helped us achieve something really special with Remedy”

Eline Dunning from Zoë’s Place told us that “Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice provide respite and palliative care for babies and infants from birth to 5 years old, who have life limiting and life threatening conditions. Babies and infants come to Zoë’s to live life to the full. No matter how severe their disabilities, we put into each day as much joy as we can through play, touch and stimulation, making everything as much fun as possible.

Care is provided on a one to one basis by Registered Children’s Nurses and trained Care Assistants. Local support is crucial for us to continue providing the service we do for our special babies and children. We are very grateful for the support we have received from Remedy and would like to thank everyone involved in the organisation for their time and support.”

A grand total of £3045 was presented to Zoe’s place by Rachel Walton, Andy Lee & Lisa Morrison who are hoping to run the event again in 2019.
