Baltic Training Services, a leading North-East IT apprenticeship provider based in Newton Aycliffe, have given an excellent opportunity to seven recent graduates with aspirations in the business world to help ignite County Durham’s IT and training industry. Their first port of call is to help Baltic’s IT apprentice, Jake Parker, a young 17 year old, who suffers from a disease called congenital myopathy, a form of Muscular Dystrophy.
Tim Mawson, James Dentith, Katy Kennedy, Harriet Elenor, Vanessa Hedley, Amanda McCombie and Louise Reed have kickstarted a fundraising campaign ‘Help Us Help Jake,’ to raise the remaining funds to help Jake acquire a new special wheelchair to help further his educational aspirations.
Jakes new wheelchair costs £3500 however the Government are only going to fund £800 towards the wheelchair. Baltic Training have kindly offered to donate the half the remaining balance, £1350, and their seven new graduates are going to fundraise the remaining £1350. The graduates are hosting a Halloween Fundraising Day at Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre on Burn Lane (DL5 4HT) on Saturday the 31st October 2015, 11am till 2pm.
