Snow and ice on the roads, and I see a number of posts on Facebook complaining that DCC gritters are not out again!
This is just not true.
DCC’s winter service plan identifies ‘Priority One’ routes which it keeps open. You can see where these are on this webpage – http://www.durham.gov.uk/winterroads – if you click on ‘open map’ and enter your postcode.
DCC informs residents where it is gritting on Twitter (Newton Aycliffe is in the ‘Durham Central’ area). It also is currently sending me an email every day telling me what it plans to do.
I can therefore assure you that the Priority One routes around Newton Aycliffe HAVE BEEN GRITTED on rounds starting at 3pm and 8pm last night, and again on rounds starting at 4am and 6:30am this morning.
