Greenfield Community College and Greenfield Tennis Club are delighted to announce the completion of extensive improvements to their tennis courts, returning them to an excellent standard. The facilities are used extensively by the school and the community and will be a real asset to an already thriving sports department. David Priestley, Executive Headteacher was very impressed with the results, “It is fantastic to have our floodlit tennis courts back to a gold standard. These are an integral part of our schools high quality sports facilities that enable us to give our students the best possible opportunities working with our award winning PE department”. The improvements were made possible through local funding from GAMP via the Neighbourhood Budget allocations of County Councillors, John Clare, Kate Hopper, Eddy Adam, Sarah Iveson and former County Councillors Mike Dixon, Joan Gray and Jed Hillary.
“We are committed to serving our community and it is good to Greenfield’s Top Class Courts see the wider use of the facility out of hours in partnership with the Tennis Club. We are very grateful for the support from GAMP, Councillors and the Tennis Club” said Mr Priestley. Adam White from GAMP was also pleased that through this special initiative this has been just one of the many areas that they have been able to support and restore. Everyone involved with Greenfield Tennis Club are also thrilled with the transformation. Secretary John Snowball was keen to give praise, “Greenfield Tennis Club members and officials are delighted that thanks to the support of GAMP and David Priestley, the Head Teacher of Greenfield Community College, the College, Club and Town can again be proud to have top class tennis facilities now that the courts have been restored to their former glory.” The courts are available to members of the public from 5pm to 10pm weekdays and from 9am Saturday and Sunday. Cost is only £2 for juniors and £3 for adults.

The launch was also attended by a number of Year 8 and 9 students, who were keen to take to the new courts for a long awaited ‘hit’.
