On 7th March 24 Gifted & Talented Greenfield College pupils were invited by the County Council to attend a South Asian Festival to celebrate on-going links with Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Greenfield are currently in their third year of a connecting classrooms project with schools in Sri Lanka and in their second year of a project with schools in Pakistan having just welcomed their respective colleagues into school last month.
Greenfield was the only Secondary school invited to County Hall where the pupils enjoyed various engaging and interactive activities. They had an opportunity to learn some Sufi and Qawwali music, common in Pakistan and India, explore different textiles and clothing prevalent in Asian culture and learn different traditional dances.
The partnerships have helped bring an international dimension to young people’s learning, to improve their knowledge and understanding of other cultures and prepare them for life and work as global citizens.
As a school Greenfield endeavours to place a huge importance on internationalism which is reflected by our vast array of different projects with schools in France, Italy, Germany, Papau New Guinea, South Korea, Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan.
