Students at Greenfield Community College are being offered valuable opportunities to support their studies through creative learning.
In September a group of students will be supported during their TimeForSuccess lessons to explore aspects of science through creativity. The group of Year 9 students will be working alongside artist Dawn Belshaw, taking part in inspiring sessions that focus on the concepts of science. The ‘Creative Collaborators’ will have the opportunity to share their thoughts as they discuss how topics such as nature, the environment, recycling, and pollution impact upon science and our planet.
The project, led by Greenfield Arts, follows a recent creative opportunity which is also set to inspire the whole school this autumn. ‘Finders, Seekers’ enabled design students to engage, learn new skills and help inspire a stimulus for the whole school to be taken forward and shared creatively. Working with professional artist Paul Theo Murray students developed skills in cyanotype, bookbinding and printing.
There are a few places left on the ‘Finders, Seekers’ summer activity which is being held in Shildon and at Newton Aycliffe this summer, visit the Greenfield Arts website to find out more and reserve your place www.greenfield-arts.co.uk
The projects find creative ways to develop school learner attributes such as creativity, collaboration, responsibility, reflection and resilience both in school and in our wider community. Thank you for support from County Durham Community Foundation Durham County Council Arts.
