Last week a group of Year 7 students from Greenfield College visited Ullswater Outward Bound Centre for a week of fun, excitement and adventure. The students took part in a range of activities such as gorge walking, camping, raft building, canoeing and the legendary jog and dip!
As part of the experience, specific tasks and targets were set for the students. During their stay they experienced exciting physical challenges, and developed a positive mind set. Each and every pupil rose to the challenges set for them, achieving their goals and targets, they went above and beyond the expectations of the Greenfield staff and the staff at the Outward Bound centre.
This Outward Bound trip was a great opportunity for the students to learn outside the classroom, work as a team and learn new skills in a new and inspiring environment. They loved the week and said they would love a chance to go back again, they even spoke about the ways in which they can apply the skills they learnt back in school and at home.
This trip is organised each year by Greenfield staff as an opportunity for Year 7 students to learn new skills and experience something different. The benefits of their time at the Outward Bound center and the skills they learn are seen in the classroom throughout the rest of the students’ time at Greenfield.
The Outward Bound staff said Greenfield’s students were a pleasure to have, they were polite and excelled themselves in all aspects of the week – well done Year 7!
