Emily Bloomer from Greenfield Community College, was chosen as one of the talented finalists in a national search to find the country’s next top cooking talent.

After receiving hundreds of entries from across the country, 50 students were shortlisted to take part in six regional heats in the hope of eventually being crowned National Champion.

James and his fellow judges were blown away by Emily’s creative dish, Lamb and Apricot Meatballs and she earned “Highly Commended” certificate for her dish at Harrogate on 12th November.

Every year the standard gets higher and James Martin said: “The quality of entries we have received this year has been very impressive. It has been difficult choosing our finalists from such a creative and talented group.”

Red Tractor beef and lamb launched the challenge to engage, educate and inspire students to get hands-on cooking experience and appreciate the importance of good nutrition, quality ingredients and develop an understanding of where food comes from.

Denise Spencer-Walker, Food Adviser said: “As always, the standard of this year’s entries has been really high.  The finalists should be very proud of themselves for submitting such imaginative recipes and they all had a great time at the regional heats this week.
