Greenfield’s thriving STEM Club which promotes Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths had two teams qualify for the National 4 x 4 in Schools Technology Challenge Northern England finals held at the Land Rover factory at Halewood.

Greenfield College completed with other teams from as far as Birmingham to Scotland. Greenfield were proud to be the only school from the North East of England to quality for the finals. STEM club members had de-engineered radio controlled 4 x 4 vehicles before reconstructing them to exacting competition standards.

The team progressed through all the stages of the final over 7 hours including a trailer reversing task in which only one point was dropped, a presentation to Land Rover engineers and national STEM Ambassadors. The teams vehicles were subject to a gruelling technical scrutiny to make sure things met the high standards set.

Both teams finished in the top 10 and returned very proud and ready to address their next challenge.
