Students from Greenfield Community College are involved in exciting learning opportunities that encourage them to be the best that they can be.

The Geography department, as with all departments, have adapted quickly to the current climate bringing learning to life through enquiry. Students are taking part in a range of exciting learning opportunities across Geography and have some stimulating activity taking place.

Year 7 students have settled in particularly well and were scheduled to visit Newton Aycliffe town centre as part of a study of Human Geography. Although the trip was unable to go ahead subject specialists Mrs Raggett and Mr Robson ensured that the students did not miss out and were able to access the experience virtually. Mrs Ragget filmed a trip to the town centre to help bring the exercise to life and enable the students to confidently consider important learning points to focus on.

Students across year groups are looking forward to further field work planned including a visit to the River Wear between Killhope and Stanhope to explore depth, width and speed of river changes downstream.

Not only do the department have a range of carefully planned field trips in place but are thinking of ways to support student learning across a range of tools and vehicles. The team have created learning booklets and have prepared online resources and lessons to be sure teaching can remain agile and adaptable to changing circumstances.

Greenfield Community College have a range of measures and procedures in place to support students to develop their learning and is committed to providing opportunities to support students to reach their full potential. Greenfield Community College promotes an inclusive curriculum encouraging students to work together to realise an outstanding learning experience.
