A group of year 8 students from Greenfield Community College have been taking business seriously over the past months as they have been part of (FBM) Future Business Magnates competition for schools. Their great ideas and hard work paid off recently as they celebrated a win with a special award for the best environmentally friendly business.
Working alongside teaching staff and business partner Michael Fawcett from Franks the Flooring Store, the students were quick to learn as they designed their winning E-bin. The product was an innovative recycling bin that rewards customers with vouchers every time they recycled. Students developed their engineering skills over the year, building the E-bin from recycled metal, reinforcing their environmental theme. The group of students worked brilliantly together as a team excelling in their communication skills and overall resilience.
The students decided to create the E-bin as a scheme to increase recycling figures throughout the UK which are lower in comparison to other countries. The team were keen to back up their practical ideas and worked hard on written reports to strengthen their proposal. FBM is a highly successful business enterprise competition for schools and has provided a valuable opportunity for the students to showcase their skills.
Teaching specialists Miss Foster and Mr Robson were incredibly proud of their achievements as they worked together to win the award and finish a fabulous 7th on the overall leaderboard. “We are so proud of the team this year, and couldn’t have done it without our business partner Michael Fawcett” said Miss Foster.
Well done to all involved.
