Year 11 leavers returned for a very special evening to celebrate their recent achievements at Greenfield Community College. The evening was a great occasion giving a chance for students, families and staff to re-unite and celebrate their success at Greenfield.
The year group were invited to receive their GCSE certificates and take part in the annual awards ceremony. This year David Taylor, a former student at Greenfield, was on hand to present the awards. David left Greenfield in 2012 and went on to study Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at Oxford, one of the most prestigious universities in the world. It was inspiring to have a former student recount his experience and love of learning.
In addition to receiving GCSE and other academic certificates a number of students were also presented with special individual awards for outstanding academic and personal performance. Students were nominated in subject areas and the standard of achievement was excellent. Congratulations to all those receiving an award and to every student involved.
Johnny Lawson received the Mayor’s Award for the Highest Academic Achievement, Morgan Dinsley, Charlotte Smith, Abigail Stapleton, Holly Walker and Melissa Wall were all recognised for their effort and determination by receiving the Peter Beaty Progress Award.
Mr John Moffatt, Deputy Headteacher, praised the full year group, “every one of you has left our school a success, you have all graduated from Greenfield Community College and will always be part of that family. We look forward to hearing of your achievements over the coming years”.
Mr David Priestley, Executive Headteacher, stated, “we are proud of each and every one of our students. We wish them huge success in the future as they continue their learning and development beyond Greenfield.”
