There were happy tears, smiles, hugs and high fives at Greenfield Community College on Thursday 21st August as students opened their GCSE results.
Once again Greenfield was above the national average for both Maths and English. Record results in English, at a time when results dipped nationally, saw 35 students achieve A/A*s, with almost 90% achieving C+ against a national average of 66%. Results were strong across the board with teachers from all subjects celebrating success with the students. In particular A/A* results in RE were outstanding. Our specialist subjects, Science and the Arts once again achieved high results. We are delighted to have sustained such a high standard against a volatile picture nationally and we continue to be placed amongst the top performing schools in the county.
Special congratulations to Sophie Bennett, Megan Cross, Francesca Moody, Aicha Krasik, and Tanisha Waters who celebrated an incredible 51 A/A* grades between them and to Harry Heaton for achieving A* grades across the core subjects of English, Maths and Triple Science.
Other students made exceptional progress in English with more than half the cohort achieving beyond expected progress, 21 of them achieved an exceptional 5 levels of progress. Belinda Farn, Tino Lewis, Jack Travis and Jacob Young deserve special congratulations for their hard work leading to an incredible 6 levels of progress.
David Priestley, executive headteacher, said “Governors and staff are delighted to celebrate these excellent results which will enable all of our students to move to the next phase of their lives. We wish them all future success.”
