Greenfield Arts invites you and the public to the preview of our latest exhibition by William B Hindmarsh on Wednesday 2nd September 6pm to 8pm. Bill is a self-taught artist who works in several media. In 1957 he started work as an apprentice electrician at Linton Colliery, Northumberland and worked for 12 years in various mines, witnessing the changes from manual work to advanced automation. When he fulfilled his lifetime ambition to become a professional artist in 2000 he drew on his life in the North East for inspiration, painting an eclectic mix of landscapes, seascapes and community scenes.
The paintings depicting his early years in the mining community have proved the most popular as many people can still remember their fathers and grandfathers telling tales of the once mighty Northern Coalfield and it is some of these tales which are often reflected in his work.
Artworks are for sale throughout the exhibition with limited edition prints available at the preview only. Bill will be in attendance to help provide insight into his work and practice with Dr Robert McManners introducing the exhibition at 6pm on Wednesday 2nd September.
Gallery Opening Times: Monday – Thursday 10am – 9pm Friday 10am – 4pm
