Newton Aycliffe Youth and Community Centre held their AGM on 19th May 2014 at 6pm. The AGM was well attended and for the first time ever the nominations exceeded the 12 spaces, which resulted in an election by secret ballot.
The Management Committee would like to thank the 2013-2014 Committee and would like to thank Noelien Jones and Cllr Mike Dixon, who stood down for their support and hard work.
We would like to welcome the new Management Committee for 2014-2015 and express our excitement at the forthcoming year. The new committee are: Dorothy Bowman, Debbie Burdon, Corrinn Chambers, Joan Clark, Vince Crosby, Kevin Crowle, Evelyn French, Anne Hewish, Victoria Hewish, David Judge, Rebecca Metcalfe and Paul Whiting. Cllr. Tom Twizzel will represent Great Aycliffe Town Council.
David Judge addressed the meeting with an enlightening talk on his youth work initiative Global Hands. His vocation has given the youth a chance to explore who they are, what they want and where they want to be, not just on a local community level but on a global scale.
The meeting was closed by Cllr John Robinson who praised the achievements of the Management Committee, over the last year including the Youth Workers, Staff and Volunteers. He said “You should be very proud of yourselves. You now face new challenges over the next 12 months, but I’m sure you will rise to meet those challenges – all for the benefit of the community”.
