The Music Night at the Working Men’s Club will run again this year following its success in 2015 and 2016. There will be a ‘Party in the Park’ which is a FREE evening show with bands from the Durham Brass Festival in attendance on Friday July 14th in the Town Park. The STEM event is another event which has been with the Festival since 2015. This year there will be a change of venue to the Leisure Centre in the Town Centre. The event which will be held on Tuesday 18th July covers many aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
Many displays are interactive and are designed to enthuse and inspire young people to take up work in these fields. For more information contact Mr. D. Spensley 01325 375977. An event not yet announced is a synthetic ice rink which will be sited from Monday 24th – Friday 28th July. A possible location for the rink is the Town Centre. The rink will hold around 45 skaters at a time, so it is large enough to cope with the expected demand. Skates will be available, as will ‘guides’ for toddlers to help them negotiate the ‘ice’. More events announced in April, after the Festival Working Group’s next meeting.
