Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club are organising a Grand Sponsored Community Walk along the 2 mile new tarmac path installed by the County Council, alongside the railway, linking Shildon with Newton Aycliffe.
Monies raised from the walk will be shared between the participants’ own group or chosen charity and the NSPCC.
The walk will unite Shildon – the birth of the railway and Newton Aycliffe the re-birth of the railway with Hitachi who will be involved. The walk will end at the Locomotion Museum where numerous activities will take place arranged by Shildon Town Council Mayor Trish Pemberton and will include entertainment and refreshments.
Groups who would like to offer their services to showcase their talent are invited to get in touch.
It is hoped all sections of the Newton Aycliffe community will take part in the walk and there is already great interest from walkers, runners, cyclists, charities and schools.
This is an opportunity for every organisation in Newton Aycliffe to be part of this great community occasion helping themselves and the worthy charity, NSPCC.
The walk is on Saturday 1st October starting from 2pm. It takes on average 20 minutes to reach the Locomotion, so everyone should be at the Museum for 3pm.
Every group or individual needs to be registered and be issued with official Sponsorship Forms which will be provided by the Rotary Club.
