More than 50 talented youngsters from Aycliffe sang, danced, played and acted the night away at the Big Club, raising over £1000 for their organisation AYTP.co.uk.
Every single person was a star, all the dancers from “Stepping Out with Clare Walton” were great, dancing very professionally and keeping the room entertained.
The night started with a new Aycliffe band “RAWH”, with Will Kirton, Alex Hindmoor and Tom Bussey, fronted by 12yr old Hannah Bussey.
Two other Aycliffe groups The Unsound and Unplugged also did great sets. Hannah Bussey also sang as soloist along with Holly Hardy, Libbi Dagleish, Bethany Clarkson, Fran Porritt, Keira Durham, Ciaran Jasper and Stacey Sherman. Everyone received a great reaction from the sell out crowd. Magician and illusionist Ryan Metcalfe, stunned the audience with his card tricks and Houdini inspired illusions.
Two highlights of the night were when the Stepping Out dancers took the floor and danced while Soloist Hannah Bussey sang “Fix You” and they all joined The Unsound to dance the final song of the night, “Crazy”.
The Unsound and Stacey Sherman received a recording contract after pleasing the owner of Kingdom Audio, a recording studio in Aycliffe. A big thank you to Jason Snowball for offering to donate this great prize.
Stacey Sherman was offered 3 paid gigs in Aycliffe from Clare Walton from Stepping Out Dance School. The Unsound were given a paid slot the next night at The Turbinia, where they rocked the place and gave 5 encores as the crowd didn’t want them to stop playing.
Debbie the event sponsor from Deb’n’hair hairdressers attended with some of her work colleagues and had a great fun night. Thanks to Debbie and Emre for their support. A big thank you also to the Aycliffe companies that advertised in the programme: VC Carpets, Eastern Spice Indian Takeaway, Taylors Newsagents and Post Office, Badge.me.uk and Newton Press for printing our event programmes and posters.
We would also like to thank the people and companies that donated raffle prizes: Mikes Fish Bar, Cycleways, Occasions, Pace, Petals, Eastern Spice, Jessie Bussey, Planet Leisure, Stephen Russel, Stan James and the families of Stepping Out with Clare Walton.
Six raffle prizes remain unclaimed, White 83, Green 68, 93 & 183, Orange 88 & 178. If you have these tickets contact Ian on 07704646346.
The Mayor, Barbara Clare, and her consort John Clare, stayed the whole night and enjoyed every act, especially Ryan the amazing magician and Unplugged with their great sound.
The most asked question from the audience and those that took part was “When is the next one, we can’t wait”. So here is the news, on Saturday 7th Sept we are holding an 80’s night with Unplugged headlining and Rock Pit DJ playing all types of music from 80’s with optional fancy dress. Then on Sat 21st Dec we are holding a Christmas/Glam Rock night, to get everyone ready for Santa. Contact www.aytp.co.uk, ian@aytp.co.uk or 07704 646346 for details or keep an eye on the Newton News.
