Description of Activities: We have a guest speakers every month from health professionals to help people fight cancer or to sign post to the relevant person. This group is for anyone that is or has been affected by cancer. You could be the patient, carer or family member. We are more a friendship group and cover all cancers. We are called “Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group” but people from other areas are welcome. At some stage we hope to organise car sharing, so if someone is not well enough to drive, but still would like to attend, then the option of a list is available. We also have day outings or sometimes simply just a meal which gives the members a chance to get to know each other better. Also, some patients live alone and do not see anyone apart from a doctor, nurse or carer, so it can get very lonely for them. This is why day trips are needed and also to gain confidence back as most cancer patients lose their confidence when they lose their hair.
