After a busy start to the project, the activity for this year’s “Cutting Loose” project continues at a busy pace! At Greenfield Arts the men’s Cree group are working hard and volunteering their time to create the finale for the event, we are enjoying seeing the structure emerge and change each week in our Studio 2. The volunteers meet on a Monday morning, and welcome newcomers, contact Greenfield Arts for more information.
Last week a group of Year 9 students from Greenfield Community College started their part of the project as part of the marketing team – joining sound artist Nick in Newton Aycliffe town centre to record sound bites for the living archive which will be premiered at the event. The group will continue to work with Greenfield Arts staff over the coming weeks, developing marketing material and helping with promotion of the event as part of their COPE studies.
Greenfield Community College’s Primary technology group also started work last week. The group, which includes young people from different primary schools across Aycliffe, will be using their design and technology skills in the lead up to the event to design and make costumes for performers, amongst other things.
Aycliffe’s talented young musicians are hard at work rehearsing and we are all looking forward to the event on Tuesday 15th July at the Boating Lake (West Park), at 6pm. For more information about the project, which has been funded by GAMP AAP, Livin, Great Aycliffe Town Council, East Durham Trust and Greenfield Arts, visit www.greenfield-arts.co.uk .
