On Saturday 26th November, Oak Leaf Golf club celebrated their 2016 Presentation Night. The Mayor and Mayoress attended to present trophies to the Junior beginners winners. At the end of the proceedings, the Mayor also made a special presentation to the Oak Leaf PGA Professional, Julie Welch. The Oak Leaf Golf Club was awarded the most successful “Get into Golf Centre” in County Durham. Over 90 people, including 24 with disabilities, have tried golf for the first time this year with many still playing. This is an incredible achievement and this is the highest accolade awarded by the Durham County Golf Partnership.
The Oak Leaf Golf Club Committee would like to congratulate Julie and staff on their success, with thanks to Great Aycliffe Town Council and the Mayor and Mayoress for their support. Captain Geoff Archer said “Our professional Julie Welch, has done a fantastic job with the juniors and adults with various disabilities this year and deserves recognition for her efforts”.
