Jake Mendelsohn, a year 9 student from Woodham Academy, competed in the Northern Regional Schools Biathlon on Sunday 9th October, his 14th birthday!     In 2015 he won the Yorkshire Biathlon and then went on to compete in the final at Crystal Palace in London where he was placed 14th in the UK.     Due to other commitments he couldn’t attend the Yorkshire heat this year so had to attend the Northern heat in Hexham.    He ran 1600 metres and swam 200 metres against tough competition in the under 15 boys’ heats to win the gold trophy and has now qualified again to compete in the finals at Crystal Palace next March.
